NCA CIC

The Nansledan Community Association was formed in 2018 and on the 16th September, we gained CIC status – so why the transition.
Nansledan is a new community which is home to approximately 750 properties, 1200 residents and up to 40 businesses currently. Championed by King Charles III and his work taken forward and developed by by the Duke of Cornwall Prince William, Nansledan is situated on the edge of the seaside town of Newquay and will eventually comprise of 4000 homes following a programme of expansion stretching over another 20 to 30 years.

There has always been a need to have a facility where residents and visitors can come to enjoy community activities and social events, learn new skills and integrate incoming families to the Nansledan community, continuing the strong bond that Nansledan has built up over the past decade. This Community Space has been provided by the Methodist Church allowing us to utilise The Hub in Nansledan. This space is due to close next year as the Methodist Church move into Newquay town centre to their new Build which has been an ongoing project over the past 7 years.

Without a Community Space the residents in Nansledan would lose the opportunities to come together and provide community cohesion. With this said the Duchy Of Cornwall has been keen to ensure this cohesion is not lost and have secured a premises for the NCA (CIC) to carry on the work they do within the community.

In its previous format the NCA would have struggled to support and run this Community Space. The decision was to progress on to become a Community Interest Company and provide better opportunities to apply for grants and ensure they have the funding and ability to run this new Community Space, here after known as Nansledan Community Centre.
